Description: Big news came when Rockstar was bringing GTA IV to Xbox 360 at the same time it goes for PS3. And, the bigger news came when they promised us two exclusive downloadable episodes. Rockstar said that if we do not have XBox Live or no longer own a copy of GTAIV, we would still be able to play 'The Lost And Damned' and 'The Ballad of Gay Tony', and we have nothing to fret about. We can still enjoy the two stories by going down to our local game store and grabbing the game for TWO stories and only for $40. And best of all, we can play it WITHOUT a copy of GTAIV. I tried out the game, and all I could say was the gameplay was terrific. Appoint 10 for gameplay, i would give a 9. But for the storyline, it was a different 'story'. Appoint ten, I would give it a 6.5.
First of all, this game welcomes us with a few improve gameplays. Have you notice that riding a motorcycle was like hell? Now, in the story of L&D, the motorcycles would be alot more maneuverable then before. In the Ballad of Gay Tony, a scoring system was added, so as to see how good or bad we had done. We are also allowed to replay the mission after completing the game. For me, I think that this makes the game realstic in a way. Example, your friend was in a gun-fight and the mission requires you to drive there and help him out. In GTAIV, I could go around taking my time, eating hotdogs at the food stands and sight-seeing. But in The Ballad Of Gay Tony, the time taken would affect the performance, hence, making you to feel like doing better.
In The Ballad of Gay Tony, you take on the role of Luis Lopez who works for the title character. In the other stories, Niko and The Lost And Damned hero Johnny Klebitz were little men trying very hard to rise up in the world. But, Luis has already made his changes from poor to rich. Tony Prince, owner of the biggest straight and gay nightclubs in Liberty City, took him in and made him into something. In The Ballad Of Gay Tony, you do live in a crappy apartment, but you live well, and work for the richest man in the city. The Ballad Of Gay Tony is a perfect way to end the story of GTAIV. We finally know where the diamonds went to, although Luis did not have much to do with it. There is alot of funny moments that you can have in The Ballad Of Gay Tony. Sure, the storyline might have been a little crappy, but i think it's still worth the $20. Besides all those main storys, you can also dance to the beat in clubs. Notice that in GTAIV, when Niko enters the strip club, he does'nt pop to the beat. Also, there is nothing to do in the clubs in GTAIV except for the private shows. In The Ballad Of Gay Tony, when you enter the club, Luis would start poping to the beat. Get to the dancefloor and dance with a girl. End up, you might have a dance-off or a group dance. In The Ballad Of Gay Tony, you can also get a shot or have a drinking contest. How cool is that?!
In The Lost And Damned, it is quite disappointing. The characters were a little out. To be honest, although it has a new storyline, characters and vehicles etc., we can't call it a new game. Although it seems pretty bad, it still has good points. Other games can never compete with The Lost And Damned's multiplayer and game changes. If the characters and storylines were made better, it would be 100% worth it for the $20.
Overall, Grand Theft Auto:Episodes from Liberty City is amazing and stunning, and in my opinion, this is the must worth game for Xbox360. There's more than 20 hours of gameplay to be had here, just on the single-player missions alone. There are also tons of side quests and distractions as well as multiplayer, and I hope Rockstar would continue the siries of GRand Theft Auto.
The Ratings(by IGN)
out of 10
9.0 Presentation
The stories aren't quite as good as GTA IV, but it's still a great package.
9.5 Graphics
The city is still full of life, but it would have been nice to see some new graphical wrinkles.
10 Sound
High-quality voice acting and the most robust game soundtrack ever.
9.5 Gameplay
There's lots of fun to be had here and the gameplay tweaks are welcome. Some of the missions in each episode fall a little flat.
10 Lasting Appeal
The two episodes together will take 20 hours to complete and there's plenty of other things to keep you occupied.
Overall Rating:9.2
